Our thin film, permanently poled, PZT material and MEMs device structure has many advantages over traditional ceramic flakes used in PIRs. One advantage is our ability to miniaturise our sensors whilst retaining high sensitivity. This is just not possible for our competitors PIRs, as the signal-to-noise reduces dramatically with decreasing sensor element size in their traditional ceramic flakes.

Pyreos PIR sensor elements can be reduced to less than ¼ of the size of competitors sensor elements and still achieve higher sensitivity, with our standard peerformance achieving D* ~3 x 10⁸cmHz^-2W^-1 .

This reduction in sensor element size allows a shorter focal length fresnel lens to be used, greatly reducing the overall size of your end product.

We also have the design flexibility to make custom miniature PIR components for you, with any arrangement and sizes of sensor elements, including curtain type sensor arrangements
