IR Cameras

With the design flexibility and high performance available from our uncooled pyroelectric arrays it is also possible for Pyreos to design array products for IR camera or imaging applications, that can enable both high performance industrial line cameras or with lower resolution arrays provide an enebaling product for a new class of low cost IR thermal camera products.

Our 4x4 sensor array product is our lowest resolution imager. This can be extremely effective,  when used in conjunction or alongside CCTV security systems. In this format the Pyreos IR array can be used to “wake-up” and trigger the recording of the CCTV system saving power thereby saving on data transfer/energy useage and reducing the total cost of ownership. You might be surprised at how much shape and detail is possible with less than 100 pixels for example, watch our short video of a partner's prototype using a low resolution array to see for yourself here.

Our 4 x 20 array and our line sensors can also be used for specialised imaging applications. With a multiplexed analogue output these devices can be ran at speeds up to 512Hz to created high quality IR images.

By using our patent granted wafer scale packaging technology Pyreos also has a process technology for achieving similar resolutions and pixel sizes to bolometer arrays used in IR cameras. In this approach our sensor arrays are connected to an underlying CMOS array on a wafer scale. As part of this approach our sensor array is enclosed in a low cost hermetic package, providing a high resolution low cost approach to IR cameras.
