Pyreos highly sensitive pyroelectric detectors can be designed and manufactured into miniature IR sensor arrays that can enhance the capability of all dual and triple IR flame detectors, reducing emergency response times and improving levels of safety in high risk industrial settings.
Up to now, there has been no automatic way to detect the position of a flame within the field of view when using the industry standard triple IR detectors. By incorporating and utilising a miniature Pyreos IR array it is possible to accurately interpolate the position of a flame in the field of view of the detector. This can be done by using algorithims to analysise the relative intensity of the individual signals of the sensor elements in the Pyreos array.
Even with IR sensor elements that measure just a few hundred microns in size it is possible, using the Pyreos thin film technology, to also get a high D* of ~4 x 108cmHz-2W-1 (500k 10Hz corrected for window and optics) which is just not possible with any other pyroelectric materials. This enables accurate flame positioning over an approximate 50 m distance.
